Mike “the Soupcan” is a self-taught mixed media artist, specializing in making a statement to make the viewer think about the human condition. Growing up, the Soupcan was always surrounded by a family and friends full of artists, and self-aware of the world around him, making observations and opinions on everyday life. As a child, Mike knew how to draw but never thought of it as an ambition, just a hobby. Not until recently, after losing a very talented, very close friend, did he choose to pick up a paintbrush. Looking for guidance and inspiration from his younger brother, the artist RZP, the Soupcan sought solace in painting a memorial piece for his lost friend. Mike the Soupcan found he had a natural talent with a brush and a head full of ideas and, with the support of his wife, friends, and family to help through a difficult and painful time, he is now on the career path of being a full-time painter.
